Kasenyi Plains at Queen Elizabeth National Park

Kasenyi Plains in the Park consist of vast open grasslands and large mammals, predators. The Plains are close to the Kazinga Channel and Kasenyi Gate with scattered acacia trees, seasonal wetlands and grazing areas. The Plains are part of the savannah ecosystem with Nutrient-rich grasses that attract herbivores, Permanent water sources. The plains act as a feeding hub especially during the dry season when animals are looking for water to break thirst. The Plains inhabit large herbivores i.e the Uganda kob, Buffaloes, Elephants, Waterbucks.

The plains include predators i.e Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, etc. There are also bird species i.e Crowned cranes, Secretary birds, eagles and vultures, Lapwings and weavers.

Best Times for Game Drives

Early morning (6:30–10:00 AM): predators active

Late afternoon (4:00–6:30 PM)

Best Time to Visit

Kasenyi Plains can be visited anytime around the year although the best time to visit the plains is during the Dry Season in the months of June to August
and December to February. During these times, the wildlife animals gather near water sources, making sightings easier.
