Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 600 bird species, making it one of the richest bird habitats on the African continent. This large number of bird species include; migratory birds i.e Water birds, Forest birds, Savannah birds, Birds of prey like Shoebill Stork, African Fish Eagle, Grey Crowned Crane, Martial Eagle, African Skimmer, Malachite Kingfisher.
Best Bird-Watching Areas in the Park
Kazinga Channel
The Kazinga Channel is one of the most famous bird-watching locations in the park. The channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward.
Bird watchers can observe large numbers of water birds along the shores including pelicans, herons, cormorants, and kingfishers. Boat cruises along the channel provide excellent opportunities for close bird viewing and photography.
Mweya Peninsula

Best Time for Bird Watching
Bird watching in Queen Elizabeth National Park can be done throughout the year, but the best seasons to watch birds occurs in the months of March to May as well as September to November. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times of day because birds are more active during these cooler hours.
